Oh Sea King, when would it end? It was only 3 days into their mating season heat cycle and she already wanted it to end. It was rather frustrating since it had come early this year. She had yet to see neither hide nor hair of Shay, but she wondered how he was making out with it. If he would even experience the mating season heat, this would be his first time. Since he was only half siren, there was no way to tell what exactly he would have to deal with for symptoms. Usually, they would have the basic symptoms; an undying heat throughout their bodies, shocks when they touch anyone other than family members, shakes and quakes, dizziness, lust behaviour and more. Her least favourite symptom was the constant urge to just have intercourse. Half of the time, she wouldn't have cared who it was with to try to calm that nagging urge.
The list just seemed to go on. However, since she was on land for this forsaken time of year, it was far worse. Lora had lived most of her life in the ocean and had experienced these seasons in the ocean. Now that she was on land, it was so much worse. She didn’t seem to leave this one spot of the living room. She had made camp for herself. Having found a blanket and strewn it over some of the furniture, of course, she would have taken it down if King had said so, filled a large bucket of water and placed it on a towel, on the floor to place her feet in. All the while, she tried to sit there and ignore everything that called to her. The worst part about the mating season was the constant call to the ocean. It was like a nagging feeling to return to the ocean, to find a mate, to have intercourse. Of course, it wasn’t strong enough to force her into the ocean, but it did give her a headache quite often.
Lora lifted a facecloth from beside her, placing it against her forehead; it suddenly became moist with cold water. Sighing pleasantly, she wondered if she should find Shay at some point. It would probably be a very good idea to do so, but she didn’t know if she would be able to resist herself if she left the comfort of her base. She wouldn’t want to succumb to her urges and attack King. Of course, she didn’t think that he would mind so much, but she knew it would hurt Seamus greatly.
Opening one of her eyes, she could have sworn someone had stepped in front of the little light that drifted into her camp. Her senses were too confused and overwhelmed that she couldn’t sense who it was. Please, Sea King, don’t let her mating instincts attack the person.

He hadn't felt his normal self recently. First it started with excesive amonts of sleeping. Feeling tired alot or sluggish. Then it was the random fevers that made him whimper and writh in the sheets crying out for something to cool them.
Even now he sat in the tub of ice cold water as he tried top regain his breathing to normal shaking his cheeks flushed. hair damp with sweat his usually pale skin even more pale.

Lora closed her eyes, letting her head fall back to the floor before sighing. She should probably go find Shay and see if he was all right. If she had known that mating season on land was this bad, she would have suggested vacating a pool or sometime for the next week or two. Their mating season lasted longer than just two weeks; however, it was the first two weeks that were the worst. After the initial two weeks, the only problems they would face would be when contacting someone else physically. Just a handshake could set them off. It wasn’t the best thing to allow yourself to do, shake someone’s hand and get hot and heavy over it.
Sighing, she could smell the water in the house. Sitting up a bit, Lora took the face cloth from her forehead and placed it on the floor after having sucked all the water back out of it again. She should go find Shay before King did. She didn’t want to see the emotional damage it would cause if he were to try anything before admitting his true feelings about the boy.
Standing up and heading straight to the bathroom, she knocked once on the door before letting herself in, closing the door right behind her. She could see and smell the sweat on his skin, the fact that he was even paler hadn’t gone unnoticed either. Smiling to the boy, she grabbed a new face cloth from one of the shelves in the bathroom. Pulling a chair over to the tub and sitting down, she placed the face cloth on her head and again, it was suddenly damp with cold water. “Hey, I wanted to talk about this with you earlier, but the season beat me to it,” she grinned half-heartedly to him. This wasn’t something that she ever liked about her species. Sure, many species had mating seasons, but she was only part fish, why would she need one? Mermaids and nixies lived to be about 300, there wasn’t really a need for it, was there?
“I would ask to join you in there, but if my assumptions are correct, you’re suffering from mating season as well?” sighing, she leaned closer to the tub, her elbows on her knees, her head bent forward, hung slightly as it were between her legs. “Shay, when you turn 19, beings of the ocean experience mating season. Even though you’re only half siren, it seems that you’re experiencing it too. Maybe it isn’t as bad as mine is, but don’t worry, just remember what I’m about to tell you.”
She sat up to stare firmly into his eyes. She needed to make sure that he was listening. “Rule one, don’t let anyone touch you,” she trailed off knowing that he would have a lot to say about what she was talking about. He would also probably have many questions as well. Lora had to take a deep breath to stop herself from attacking him right there and then. He was a being of the ocean, her body was telling her that it didn’t matter that he was half-human or that his ocean half was siren. She had to control herself from latching her lips onto his. It wouldn’t end well. He may not want it, and she wouldn’t either—since she saw him as her brother—but their bodies wouldn’t stop them if it were to happen.

Soft breaths pasted his lips in a heavy feverish mannor. He nodded his head and nuzzles his pillow. All he wanted was this unbarable heat to end. Part of him wanted to throw himself at Arcarus and beg the man to help him. " Lora...how long...when will it end..." He whimpered and pleaded.

She knew that this would be too much for him to take in. It seemed like he understood what she was saying, but it bothered her slightly. She thought that there would be more confusion about what was happening to him. Lora knew that he wouldn’t have experienced the heat before but she didn’t think that he would accept it so willy-nilly. She thought that there would be more questions following other than just when it would end. Sighing, Lora couldn’t help feeling a little relieved though. At least now, she wouldn’t have a heated mating season siren to deal with. She didn’t know how bad his would be, since he was only half siren, however, siren mating side effects were different from a nixie’s.
Since it was his first mating season, there was no way to tell how long his would last for. Usually, they would be the worst for the first two weeks and it would be bearable again. They would still be in mating season, but the effects would only happen if you were too close to someone based on sexual preferences or if someone touched you. It was like an instinct to start kissing as soon as they connected and it was very hard to control the urge since it was so primal.
“That depends. It’s usually the worst for two weeks and we’re only three days in. However, Shay, this is your first, so those two weeks could be longer. When it starts to calm down though, that’s when you need to follow the rules I’m about to tell you,” Lora nodded her head, recalling her very first mating season. The worst of her first season had lasted three and a half weeks. She didn’t have enough control over herself and had intercourse with so many people that she felt disgusted and dirty. After the initial start to it, the urges calmed down and it only came on again if she was too close to genders she was sexually interested in or if people touched her. It was odd though. She isn’t really into her own gender, she wouldn’t put it down, but she was never one to want to be with another female. Mostly, it was because most female nixies are like the stereotypical high-maintenance mermaids—luckily, she isn’t. It was during her first mating season that she had physical contact with a female who was also in heat. In addition, it had ended with some newly acquired knowledge.
That was why her first rule is so important. It doesn’t matter what sexual orientation you have, if you encounter someone physically, your primal urges may just prevent you from having intercourse with a gender you’re not interested in. Moreover, because she knew that Shay had feelings for King and that King has them as well, even if he hasn’t acknowledged them yet, this could be very hazardous for them. It could really damage what they have between them before it even really starts.
“The rules and please, try to follow them. First, don’t touch anyone. Even if you’re straight or whatever, it doesn’t matter what gender they are, if you touch them, your urges may take over and you may wake up next to them naked. Second, after the initial few weeks, you need to stay hydrated. Mating season is the worst on land because we are creatures of the sea. Third, don’t go into the ocean. You’re half human, if you go into the ocean, it would end very badly.” Lora didn’t know if it was too much to take in at once. She would have to explain these a little better, but she wanted to make sure that he heard her first.
Lora didn’t want Shay in the ocean during his first mating season. The call to the water could be so strong for some people that she didn’t know how strong it might be for him. It was his first mating season for one, he has lived on land his entire life, just finding the ocean a comfort and because once he got in, he may not make it out alive. Lora had no way to know how long he could breathe underwater. She knew he didn’t have gills, so if he entered the ocean, he would immediately be drawn to the other life there. It wouldn’t be safe because if he found a mate and his urges took over, he may not be able to return for air in time. It would be highly dangerous for him if he ran out of air during intercourse.

He nodded weakly pulling the pillow closer. The fever was pitching high and it was almost like the time he had flu just not as ickey. He whimpered and hid. Then a taught crossed his mind. He had jobs he did round the house for king. Cleaning cooking things that would go noticed if he didn't do them for 3 or so weeks. "What about my chores?" he asked gulping loudly. There master wouldn't take long to notice there pet was missing. Then again had he notied isabela had vanished or not.

It still amazed her how calm Seamus was about this entire thing. It wasn’t everyday that you were told that you would be subject to a mating season. She wondered what bothered the boy about the issue. She could see it running through his mind, trying to get used to one problem that would occur because of the season. Lora had to question what it was. Out of everything she had expected him to ask about, what was it that was challenging him the most. There was something troubling him and she wished that she knew what. Why couldn’t he just tell her?
Noticing the uncomfortable shifting, she practically deadpanned as he asked about chores. Chores? Really? The only thing that he was worried about was his chores? Thinking about it a little further, that could possibly be the worst thing he had to worry about. Aside from other symptoms of the season, he could very easily just hide out and avoid King. However, he couldn’t just stop doing his chores. King would notice. If he was just hiding out from the shifter, it wouldn’t be that uncommon. She could very easily cover for him if need be. She wanted to warn him of the entire thing because she didn’t want this to lead King into destroying whatever feelings and potential relationship may develop between them. She knew that they had feelings for the other, whether King admitted it or not, but if King found out about this too early, he may take advantage of it. Shay had feelings for him so it wouldn’t be wrong to have intercourse with him, but it would dent their potential.
“I could do your chores for you. Mating season is pretty bad on land but this is your first. You don’t know all the ticks and needs your body will develop during mating season yet.” She smiled to the siren as he gulped loudly. If King asked where he was, it would be easy to make up an excuse, right? She knew that the shifter didn’t appreciate the water, but if Shay was in the tub, he would most likely go looking for him and that wouldn’t be good. However, where else would he be? There was no excuse she could give that would stop King from searching for him. Why couldn’t he just admit his feelings for him already!? Stop being the prideful lion of this pride. Well, he was the lion in this pride, but it wasn’t helping!
“And don’t worry about it. I can handle it Shay. Seriously, doing chores may not be helpful for you.” she recalled a day that he had decided to do chores in clothing King had deemed ‘tantalizing’. King was slowly becoming a potential occurring problem here. “Shay. Please, listen. I know you have feelings for King and I know that your body is telling you to just let him fix it. However, please, don’t. It won’t help unless you’re ready for it and not at the mercy of our mating season.” Lora smiled encouragingly to him. Hopefully, the siren would take her advice.
