Decimus tended to stay away from any large bodies of water, especially the ocean. It was an instinctive fear to a fire-based creature, to be surrounded by so much water... But sometimes he forced himself to go to the shore to gain control over his fear. The idea of a thing was often so much more terrifying than the actual thing itself after all, so he ordered his driver to take him to the boardwalk for his monthly visit.
The area was rather packed of course, full of tourists paying for overpriced trinkets. Decimus didn't like the crowds, but they thankfully parted before him- either because of his expensive clothes, his scent, or the fact that if they didn't move he probably would have no trouble knocking in to them. Some gave a rude shout at his back but he chose to ignore them, heading for an edge of the boardwalk to peer down towards the waves below. The sight of it swelling around one of the pillars of the boardwalk made the hair on the back of his neck rise, and he immediately countered the fear with anger. Stupid water, how dare it try to frighten him!?
It was probably an odd sight, a well-dressed man bent over the railing to glare down at the waves. The dragon didn't notice the curious glances he was getting however, muttering his disdain for the waves. What did they even need the ocean for!? You couldn't even drink it, and getting fish out of it was too hard. He should have chosen a place to live that was land-locked!

Belial had spent the day indulging himself in what he loved most: fear, cigarettes, sugar and he had taken care of himself earlier this morning so didn't feel he needed to molest anyone. He had taken a good long walk through the park earlier, and he was slowly making his way around the city, making his way slowly to where ever there would be the most people to watch. The boardwalk was indeed crowded today and he had taken a little seat on the railings, his back and wings facing the sea; he lit his cigarette with a lighter he had stolen from a strange man in the park and smiled, trying to find a new and interesting person to watch.
The last person who had caught his attention was a young women, who seemed to be wondering aimlessly looking for someone who was in the distance. Turns out she was seriously angry at the man who approached her and she ended up slapping him and storming off, which made Belial laugh a little, the look on the man's face had been priceless. But now they were gone, and despite sitting there for several minutes he saw nothing that interesting; until the smell of fear and anger caught him. He looked around almost as if his life had depended on it and finally his gaze caught a rather well dressed man, who seemed to be rather distressed by the sea in front of him. It was odd, Belial saw him as a rather attractive man, and as he studied him he noticed the few other fears he had, they were all very strange, and it brought a small smile to his face.

It took Decimus a while to notice he was being watched, far more than it would normally. But the ocean was quite a distraction, especially when he was right over it. There was only a few inches of flimsy wood and air between him and the waves... Ugh. He should have stuck to the beach, it would have been safer. At least then he only had to worry about tidal waves, not stepping on a rotten plank and falling through.
Still, he noticed the stare and lifted his head to look around for the origin of it. When he spotted Belial he paused, not sure what species the man was supposed to be- a badly mauled bird species or something? His wings didn't look that great. Still, the weirdo was staring at him and it looked like he was smiling which intrigued Decimus. Just what did he find so funny? The dragon considered him for a long moment before he moved over to the man, a small wisp of smoke escaping from his nose as he looked down at Belial, one dark brow raised.
"Did I do something humorous?" His voice had a certain light edge to it, which might sharpen depending on the other's response. Decimus wasn't used to being seen as funny, he was used to being respected. So what did this odd creature think he was doing?

Belial was a little shocked that the man approached him so freely, and something about the look in his eyes sent a little worry down his spine. He kept getting closer and then he saw the smoke coming from his nostrils, that was something he hadn't seen in a long time. He raised his own eyebrow, not smiling as much anymore and took a deep breath, knowing he wasn't exactly any match for someone who looked and acted rather strong. "I was just smiling sir." His voice was polite, and as he took another drag on the cigarette, making sure to blow the smoke away from the recently approached man. He stared at his face, red eyes studying his as if looking for something. Yes, this man was defiantly strange, though most of his fears were a normal thing to see.
His wings fluttered slightly, as if defensively, he wanted to know that he wasn't in danger of being pushed into the ocean below. "I was just smiling, you seem a little off put by the ocean."

Oh, it seemed being confronted made that smile fade quite a bit. Decimus liked to have such an effect, and he might preen over it later- he enjoyed having his power known after all, who didn't? And it had ruined that smile being aimed at him... "Smiling while staring at me. I'm not blind, you were looking right at me." His lips tugged in to a bit of a frown at the way the other was staring so intently at his face, not sure what it was the other man was looking at. It almost made him feel a bit self-conscious, and those red eyes were rather unnatural.
He paused as the other spoke again, eyes narrowing as his frown turned in to a scowl. "Put off? What do you mean?" He didn't think his discomfort and fear was easily seen, but maybe the other man was just joking. He couldn't tell what the other was getting at yet though, but he was going to figure it out. "You aren't exactly looking too comfortable yourself right now." There was a hint of a growl at the end of his words as he continued to look down on the other.

A confrontational being, 'Trust my luck' Belial thought to himself, not wanting to get into any sort of fight after such a lovely starting day. He looked away from the other man slightly, not wanting to stare at him anymore because the worrying feelings he was getting, he felt strange and slightly unnerved by this man. "You caught my attention is all, good looking men often do." He flirted, trying to make himself feel a little more comfortable, as well as trying to make the other man not feel as though Belial was any threat. He wasn't too fussed by the growl, but right now he really wished he wasn't sitting on the edge of such flimsy wood.
He looked over back at the water and then stubbed out his cigarette on the wood he was so worried by, no longer feeling the need for nicotine. "I don't feel all that comfortable to be honest with you, but you seemed to not like the water..." He really hoped he wasn't the kind of man to act out at people he had just met for little to no reason, but something about those eyes told him he might be.

It was either his flirting or the way he looked away that made Decimus relax; probably a mix of both. By breaking eye contact first the other had given a subtle display of submission to Decimus's mind, meaning the other respected his power and wasn't about to fight him about it. A rather subhuman way of thinking, but he wasn't exactly humanoid was he? Some of the tension left his shoulders as his scowl relaxed in to a more neutral position. "Is that so? I'm sure there are plenty of attractive people here to stare at." But he had been staring at Decimus... The dragon was rather pleased with himself now.
"I do not care for deep water. Especially the ocean." The other probably noticed the abrupt shift in his attitude, but Decimus tended to be rather moody with new people. Still, this odd creature had submitted so he didn't feel terribly uncomfortable around him. He even dared to sit on the bench beside Belial, flashing the other man a smirk as he did. "What's your name? And what are you exactly?" Decimus wasn't about to give up any information about himself before he got some about the other.

Belail was glad he had looked away, it seemed to relax the man, and his mood was far better to feed off. He gave a soft smile and looked back at the other man, but tried not to look him directly in the eye as he had before, he wanted to talk to someone today, mostly because he had been alone most of it. With a small sort of noise he shifted himself to feel more comfortable on his perch, his wings folding inwards to show he really wasn't about to go anywhere and with a small pause he raised an eyebrow. There weren't that many attractive people around, especially attractive AND interesting looking people; and that's what it was all about, interesting feeling people. "That's fair..." He muttered, taking note of the fact he had decided to sit.
With a some sort of stretch of his arms he rubbed his cheek with one, pale and strangely thin hand. "Belial Bane, a mara... which is a demony-angely thing of sorts. How about you?" He had encountered many people in this city so far, and as of yet non knew what he was yet, and it was really better to explain it this way. He gave the other man a small look over, trying to figure out just what the man was. He defiantly wasn't a human, and he had never seen a shifter able to puff smoke from their noses. Demon maybe. Belial had seen many different races on his travel, and a lot of them confused him utterly.

The man was looking at him again, but he avoided eye contact- good. Decimus's eyes darted from the other's face to his wings as they folded, giving them a more thorough examination than before. Rather ragged, could he even fly with those? He didn't seem about to try, settling down on the bench as Decimus relaxed. Odd thing, wasn't he?
His head tilted slightly at the other man's species, the name seeming somewhat familiar. He couldn't really place it though- having a few thousand years of memories could do that to a person. Still it didn't strike him as a particularly dangerous sounding species despite the other's odd appearance... "I'm Decimus. I'm a Dragon; European to be exact. A pleasure to meet you." That wasn't exactly a lie, the other was rather interesting now that he wasn't angry. You didn't see too many people with completely red eyes after all.
"So. What are you doing here? Waiting for someone maybe?" People didn't usually go to the boardwalk alone after all- it was a place meant for groups of people to come waste their money. Not that Decimus could really talk, coming by himself... But that fact seemed to escape the man as he leaned back, propping an elbow against the back of the bench.

Belial made a soft noise again, he didn't like the idea of being looked over, it was a strange thing indeed to be studied at such a close range, Decimus could probably see everything with those eyes. "Don't think I've had a conversation with a dragon before... Good to meet you!" He said absentmindedly, trying not to sound too curious, but he really was. He took slim fingers and started to rub his own wrists, as he often did when his veins started to show through a little more... where these... nerves? Strange, he hadn't felt nervous by himself in a very long time, he didn't fear the unknown, but something about the way the man acted made him feel a little more respect for him than the average man you met. "I cam here to feed... and to people watch. I'm still kinda new here, so wanted to explore."
He made sure to hop off the railings, partly because he didn't like talk to the side of a man's head and walked slightly in front so he could face him as they spoke, it also gave him a chance to stretch out his legs and get a small packet of sweets out of his pocket to chew on while they spoke, a sugar rush always made him feel better around people. Popping a small, red jewel like thing into his mouth he thought for a while. "You out for a stroll too I take it?"

"Well we don't often just talk to anyone... We're rather reclusive creatures normally." Decimus gave a slight shrug, not at all caring that he had just made himself seem different. He always had been, he blamed his age for his decision to settle down in Corpus Christi. He kept his eye on the other as he rubbed his wrists, the motion a foreign one to the dragon. Why rub his wrists? Was he injured?
"To feed? What is it you eat then?" He let a bit of his curiosity show in his voice as Belial walked to his front. Decimus was distracted temporarily by the other digging in to his pocket, wary of the other pulling a gun- but instead he pulled out something that smelled sweet. The dragon was at first confused by the appearance of the sweets, thinking them to be actual gems before he put two and two together and relaxed. "You could say that, yes. Though now I'm without plans..." He wouldn't mind getting away from the boardwalk, he could still hear the ocean over the sound of the crowd and it made him a bit edgy. "Have you fed already then?"

Belial chewed the rather hard sweet over in his mouth for a while, obviously not used to talking while he did so, remaining silent until the sweet had been swallowed. He wasn't too surprised that dragons were reclusive, Belial usually had kept himself in crowded places only to survive, if he didn't have to, he'd rather live in less populated places. He smiled a little at how curious the other man sounded, he was portraying some of his emotions rather well while trying to hide others and Belial didn't know if he wanted this dragon too know too much about him yet, it was still early days after all.
"I feed off emotions, especially fear~" He grinned rather strangely, and he knew if Decimus was clever, which the mara thought he would be, he would put two and two together and realise just why his eyes had been drawn to him in the first place, not just being attractive. He noticed the bag of sweets was being stared out rather intently and carefully he offered the other man the bag, wondering if dragons liked sweets as much as this addict did. "Well I'll try and keep you entertained then... but as for feeding, yeah I'm rather full~"

He fed off fear- wait. Decimus's eyes narrowed dangerously, and there was a hint of smoke at his next exhale. He was a dragon, he did /not/ get fed on! He ate others, what did this twiggy little brat think he was!? If they were in any other location the dragon might have shifted and shown Belial what he should be afraid of, but he wasn't sure just how sturdy the boardwalk was. With all his scales he wasn't exactly light after all...
His thoughts of snapping the man in half were put on pause as the other offered him the bag of candy, and he eyed it before reaching out to grab one, examining it before popping it in to his mouth. He didn't eat a lot of processed foods, preferring his meals raw and bloody... But sugar was always nice. "You'll entertain me then? Good, come on. You can accompany me as I feed." He stood, moving closer to Belial and jerking his head towards the land. "Come on." He obviously didn't expect any complaints from the Mara- he was to be obeyed, that was all there was to it.

Belial watched as the man's anger rose, and how it was suddenly brought down with the simple action of offering a sweet. At this point he felt utterly grateful he had brought them with him, feeling as though he had just saved himself a lot of pain and torment with such little things. He relaxed a little more once again and smiled somewhat nervously as he popped another one of the little red gems into his mouth and chewed at it, watching the other man very carefully with interest. He didn't flinch when the other man stood up, as he didn't want to show his shock, but his wings did curl in slightly.
He heard the command and raised an eyebrow, wondering just what kind of man was used to having his every word obeyed. He shrugged, thinking about what he would do if he didn't follow the man, which would be sitting alone once again, not having anyone to talk to and his legs instinctively started to follow. He had never been a good leader... well he had never been a good follower either, but he enjoyed company. "As long as you don't plan to eat me~" He smiled, half hoping the other man would see this as a joke.

"Nonsense. I don't eat species I've just met- don't want you to give me indigestion." Decimus gave a rather toothy smile to the Mara after his joke, pulling out a cellphone and pushing a button to call his driver. He let it ring once before he closed it, walking to the side of Belial and a bit in front, leading him through the crowds. "No, there is a restaurant nearby that I wish to try. If you consume any actual food or drink other than candy, you are welcome to dine with me." Otherwise the poor Mara would be stuck waiting for him... Not that Decimus was too concerned. He was offering the man a free meal, why decline?
His car was waiting for them as he stepped off the boardwalk, and he gestured towards it for Belial's sake before he walked over to pull open the door. "Come. It is a short drive I'm sure. We won't be going too far..." f course, was the Mara willing to get in to a stranger's car? He hadn't hesitated to obey earlier so Decimus wasn't too concerned.
