Charlotte started to search for volume across volume of medieval doll making and their uses. She had been quite fascinated on the whole procedure of making the doll. If in the medieval ages there was a process to take at hand. If the process was to be taken as something personal and also emotional. She knew she would take it, but then again that was her own personal experience with dolls. The simple quiet of the room made her feel relaxed as she carried the stack of books she had in her hands and set them down with a loud thud.
Taking out some chewing gum. She started to chew softly as she made bubbles and popped them with the gum. She did not care if she made noise. But by the looks of things there was nobody here. Just her and maybe the overly excited librarian. But then again , those were minor details rather to the splendor that she was. She was also gloating about herself to much now a days. It seemed like she was actually not able to make a difference between the sane and the insane to. Ah but such was life. Life needed to be a little bit humorous and yet at the same time dangerous.

Dell hated bank holidays. The bar was closed, he finished all his paper work on the saturday night and was left with far too much time on his hands. It was the time he usually took to find a new book to read. He quietly entered the little town library and stalked along the aisles, looking for what he wanted. The library didn't exactly have the biggest selection in the world but he knew he could order books in if he needed to.
He stopped at a shelf and smirked softly. Chuck Palahniuk, where are you? So much for alphabetical order. He sighed and searched a little further, finding one of his favourite authors under G rather than P. He picked out Fight Club and wandered a little more, heading to the factual section of the building, he'd read Fight Club a million times before so he figured he'd need something else to keep him busy.
He saw a woman sat at the table with a pile of books and nodded slowly, so he wasn't alone here. That was fine, he enjoyed a little company from time to time. He looked along the shelves and took out a book on falconry, kendo and kick boxing. Three hobbies he'd been meaning to take up. Walking over to the table, Dell put the books down and sat opposite the girl.
"Sorry to bother you, mind if I sit here?" he asked quietly, not wanting to bother her.

She started to turn around, her eyes looking at a man as she smiled. " Of course I don't mind , sit all you like" she said and started to look at his book. Fight club, what an odd pick. A book she had read before but she was not used to picking up in the library. Shifting her eyes, she continued on her page as she licked her fingers and turned it around. Her hand grabbed her pen as she clicked the ball point open and started to write down notes. " Do you like fight club the book" she asked and started to wonder why she was asking that. She sensed that the man was hating something. She could not feed of hate, but then again there was something else about the man. What was he. It intrigued her.
Then again there was a moment to ask questions. Was she being highly rude in that time being now. But then again, she was curious to know. Also curious to know if this man could actually create some happiness. " Sorry am I being rude" she asked and started to study her nails. Her fingers fixing her hair as she was rather a mess today. She did not even fix it, and the natural hair that she had on now was even noticeable since it was crooked slightly. She liked to be a short haired woman some days. But today was just that day. She wondered in the back of her head what did she look better in long or short. But getting back to the subject, she had asked a question. How would he answer it.

Dell sat and watched as the woman took notes, a little surprised when she asked him about his choice of books. He'd never met a woman who'd read much Chuck Palahnuik so she intrigued him a little. Even if she hadn't read it, it was nice of her to ask, he was so used to having people look down and ignore him for fear of upsetting him that it was a comfort to have someone speak openly to him. He smiled and nodded softly,
"I've read it a few times and enjoyed it. I like most of Chuck's work. How about you?" he asked.
It occurred to him then that the woman was reading up on medieval doll making and he was a little intrigued. Dolls held little or no meaning to him whatsoever, unless you counted the punchbags that he trained with that were shaped to look like people. Aside from those, he had no need for dolls and considered them something children played with. So it was odd to see a full grown woman reading up on the subject, unless she had children and wanted to make...traditional dolls? He tilted his head slightly.
"Doll making huh? I have to admit, that was unexpected. You're a doll maker?" he was curious to find out more about this woman, "Oh...and I'm Dell. It's nice to meet you."

She started to turn to the man as he started to comment about Chucks writing. She found it to be social and morally correct to say that the book reflected the way society was. Money hungry and emotionally attached to personal things. But then again she found that she was actually as well inclined to say that he was finding this conversation to be very interesting. " I find his books to be very interesting especially the way he sets his characters into his own world." she started to say and half smiled.
Their dynamic of talking made some sense since they got to know about one another and yet at the same time find herself being asked a question. A simple question yet at the same time it was very simple to understand. She bit her lips and set down the books. "I am not but I have an affliction for dolls. I find them very interesting companions and would like to understand more of the reason why many girls like dolls "she started to say and sighed. "What other books do you like apart from Chucks, I like a tale of two cities but mostly any historical book is good" she said and started to twirl her fingers.

Dell nodded and listened as the girl told him why she was reading up on doll-making. It was a fair enough answer, people took interest in all sorts of things. It was just unusual to find a woman of her seeming age with an interest in a child's toy. But he smiled and thought, no not a child's toy. Dolls were certainly fine things to take an interest in. He leaned forward slightly and leaned on the desk.
"It's a nice interest to have. Dolls are companionable, they never shout at you or call you names, they're pretty. There are many reasons people like them. You know, you kind of remind me of Claudia from 'Interview with the Vampire'." he smiled softly, "Bright features, interest in dolls, shrouded in mystery. You're interesting."
He thought about her second question and had to really mull it over. He liked a great many books from a lot of different genres. So his new companion liked history, well that was certainly a noble genre. Not one he'd personally chose but he liked the idea of older times and more ready acceptance of violence; it would have been so much easier to feed in the medieval times. But as far as books went, he didn't fancy reading about it too much. He liked fiction most but he'd give anything a go once, as long as it was written well and it caught his interest. He ran through a list in his head of his personal favourites.
"A like things like 'A Clockwork Orange', Sherlock Holmes, The Zombie Survival Guide and one of my personal favourites is 'Cujo' by Stephen King. Can't say I've read much history though."

She smiled when she heard that dolls were actually good companions. “ I actually have a fixation with dolls because of my maker” she said and started to gulp. She had just revealed personal information that was not to be said to anyone. But this man he was suddenly gaining her confidence. No one ever did that, and no one ever could really achieve it. She liked to be the one who was always in charge making sure things worked out. But this man, he had grabbed her interest. “ I am sorry I should not have said that” she said and bit her bottom lip.
She had noted the sudden liking for violent books. This made her slightly think that maybe things were not as they were suppose to be. Also he seemed to be interested in violence just. Closing her book. She stood up and walked over towards the man. What was her purpose with doing this. But then again , what was this man. Who was he, and was he a demon as she thought in her mind. “ I see you like violent books.” She said and smiled , her body sitting down as she might seem a little bit excited. But she was searching for way to make him happy as well.
His sense of happiness was needed to help her feed since she was feeling low. “ Wait a minute are you a demon” she asked as she ran the information through her head. She usually did not ever ask someone out loud what they were. But this man, he seemed interesting enough. But was she being to blunt to him. But she needed to know, the pieces that made them click and made her relax were just to confusing in her mind. Bluntness was her forte, it was what she wanted to hear other people tell her. If they needed to say something to her she would rather have people say it that way.

Thankfully, Dell was also a man who preferred to get to the heart of the matter. However, he was a little surprised when she mentioned something about a 'Maker'. Did that mean that she was some sort of doll too and found the craft companionable because they were like siblings, or was she more summoned, as a demon is summoned and created...molded perhaps like a golem. His imagination ran away from him for a moment, dolls creeped him out enough for that to happen. She was likely referring to a sire. Still, she seemed upset that's she'd even disclosed this much so he figured the worst available option would be to push it. But as she moved closer, he didn't resist and gave her the space she needed, only to be confronted by a rather odd question. He chuckled and looked to her, catching her chin with his thumb and forefinger.
"Yeah, I'm a demon of sorts." he smirked and looked deep into her eyes, squeezing her chin just hard enough to cause a very dull ache, the soft thrum of electricity feeding through his skin, "I'm a pain demon. You feel the soft ache on your chin where I pinch it? That pain soaks through my skin and feeds me. It's why I like violence. Violence gets me fed and gives me an excuse to become a glutton. What about you sweetheart?"
He released her chin and sat back in his chair, wondering what she could possibly say. He also wondered why she had even asked in the first place. Dell knew that pain demons disliked each other due to an anti-social streak that dominated their genes; not to mention the fact that a group of pain demons started to look like a violent gang and the police tended to get involved. So pain demons were solitary by nature but he'd never known another demon to feel the same repelling desire to leave when around him. He hoped she'd stay, he found her company oddly comforting.
"And you never gave me you're name" he chuckled.

She started to smile and quirk her brow as she found the sudden information useful. The way he pinched her cheek and told her that he fed off pain. Now that was an interesting demon, she had never really encountered another demon like that. But she guessed that he was in luck. “ I do whatever makes people happy” she said in a quiet voice. “ I am a happiness demon .” she said and started to sit back as she found it to be extremely off that all of a sudden she was here with a man who was somehow related to what she was. Yet she knew also the laws never said that they could get along with one another .
Yet, she enjoyed the peaceful tranquility that was crossing between them. Yet what other kind of pain did he like to inflict. Her curiosity was spiked all of a sudden with the knowledge that this man was actually a demon. “ My , my , my are you not interesting. “ she said and bit her tongue. The slight , but very vivid imaginations of her mind coming to life as she wondered if there was anything else to this man. But when she started to hear her name. She laughed and sat up as she shake her head. Should she tease him a little and maybe not say it. Or should she say it and get it over and done with. “ My name , why would you want to know my name when I don’t know yours” she said and started to stretch out her arms and shoulders.
Reflecting back on what he had said, she chuckled and started to wonder if he got fed daily or rather at odd times. “ How much do you get fed” she asked and started to ignore his question as she stood up and sat next to him.

A happiness demon. Now that was something special. It wasn't often that he heard of demons feeding from a feeling as fickle and rare as happiness. Did she had to stimulate happiness in order to receive it, as Dell stimulated pain...he could only assume so. Which made things rather interesting in his mind. But there was something odd about everything. That fact that they were complete opposites, Dell feeding off a negative emotion such as pain while she fed on the pure endorphin high bliss of happiness, and yet he was quite content to keep her in his lap. He almost found his arms encircling her as she moved back but resisted the urge, not usually so taken by people; let alone inclined to hugging them. He chuckled and looked to her.
"But I've already given you my name. When I sat down, I offered my hand and said that my name is Dell." he answered calmly, watching as she moved away but leaned closer. She was captivating to say the least. That was all he asked of his company. "And I feed daily. I run a bar at the center of town called the Trap. It's a fighting bar so I tend to punch people quite a lot." he admitted with a chuckle. "How about you? Do you feed daily?...Do you please people in order to feed from them?"
Leaning back in his chair, Dell slipped a hand into his pocket and took out a small keyring. It was in the shape of a fist, outlined in iron and coloured with red plastic. He had been given it as a gift from one of his employees when he left. John had been a good man and an excellent barman but he'd been awful in the ring. So when he left, he wanted to show Dell how strong he thought he was. He turned the trinket over in his fingers and held it out to her.
"Take a look. This is the kind of thing that makes me happy...being respected...not being seen as...a violent creature."

She started to blush slightly as he was poking her at her weak spots. “ Hmm Dell .. Rolls of the tongue” she said as she leaned in and started to rest her head on his shoulder.” My name is Charlotte” she said and wondered if there was anything in her name that might hint anything odd. But then his way of asking her how she fed. Well that kind of put a little mood into her. Crossing her leg on his lap, she started to notice him cross his arm around her and grinned.
“ We are getting along quite well. I feed of the actions that people need. If sex makes them happy I grant them sex, if me doing the shopping is making them happy I do it. Pretty much I do whatever pleasures you. Whatever makes you happy, makes me happy , pain, lust, fun, anything and everything is good by me. Also I like to drink so I will stop by your bar some times.”
She explained, and started to see his hand go to his pocket as he poked something out. Her eyes fixed on the little trinket as she stared at it and started to curl her fingers as she picked it up. Her eyes studying it as she smiled. “ Then would you let me feed of your happiness” she asked cautiously, her voice slipping on some words as she did not want to seem like she was over empowering him.
But then she had a deep interest and suddenly she liked sitting on his lap and what would he thinking if she took it a step further. Sighing, she placed her hands on his shoulders and leaned in. “ You know who would have thought that this demon would learn something new” she said and snickered. She was being a flirt, flirting did not end to good things.

Dell listened contently, Charlotte was certainly an interesting person. She seemed so flirtatious and open with people, something he'd always had trouble with. Dell didn't flirt, ever, it just wasn't in his nature to form romantic attachments to people. He supposed her feeding also made people like her; let's face it, if a person lives to make you happy, who would ever consider them bad? He watched her playing with the small key chain and was a little surprised by her question. Would he really provide enough of a meal for her, he tended towards calm rather than happiness but if she figured he'd make a good target of nutrients then who was he to say no?
"Sure...it'll be an experience." he smiled softly and looked to her, "How do you feed from happiness? When I feed from pain it's down to physical contact."
As he felt her hand on his shoulder and saw her lean closer, he felt both unsure and slightly flattered. People didn't tend to flirt with him, not unless they wanted a free drink. And even then, they tended to flirt with Thomas, his head barman. He placed a hand on her free hand and looked to her, a little unsure if this was how she fed from him or whether she was seriously flirting.
"Well, you're the first woman to hit on me for a fair while, Charlotte." he admitted softly, "I don't tend to get attached to people in that way..."

She started tos tare at the man who was in front of her, their comfortable stance with one another made her smile . “ Well it would indeed have to be physical contact. But it would be what you want me to do” she whispered and sighed as she continued to stare at him. Like he had said before it was a new experience to feed from a source that fed from negative energy. She was curious of what it would taste like. But would he accept her with this, it was very odd and comical and all around silly to think that maybe she was trying to hard to please him.
Her mind was at an odd place, at an odd moment. But yet she felt secure with him. But when she heard him say that she was the first woman to hit on him she laughed. “ What do all women not hit on you because of a strange aura you might have” she asked as she bit her lips. “ Its easy to get attached to the wrong people. It is always better to take things slower. I made a mistake that way when I was human. But now I’m more secure of what I want and who I want it with.” She said , revealing parts of her past was very foreign. Had the man really captured her heart or her mind.
“ Respect is one thing I know is worth more in life than anything else.” She explained and started to wonder if she would ever get in a fight with him. “ Oh and I don’t either, after what happened with my human life it takes time to actually know what is real and what is not real” she said, answering in a way his question of that he usually did not get attached to people so easily. She knew she was also the prime example of that. But was she also saying it in a very blunt way, she knew she was blunt. But did the man like bluntness or just the average girl.

Dell thought things through for a moment as she explained a part of her past, he could sense that she'd been emotionally torn apart more than once. He couldn't say he knew how that felt. He'd grown up in a fairly hick kind of neighborhood, been child-minded by his neighbor and had grown attached to the guy, but that was friendship, nothing more. When he was converted into a demon, his only emotional turbulence had been never telling his father what he'd become. Heck, his father still didn't know what Dell had become. But he knew how it felt to be cautious about people, something he seemed to share with this girl. He took her hand softly in his and laces their fingers, looking to her.
"Well, this counts as physical contact." he mused softly, "It pleases me to be able to sit and chat with someone. I don't need anything complex to make me happy, Charlotte. I don't know if you can feed from it, but I'm most happy when I'm relaxed and content. And listening to you is a nice way to relax...why don't you tell me more about your past? What happened back then that makes you cautious?"
Dell found this fellow demon charming and a little paradoxical. He felt like the dark half of a Yin Yang circle. They were complete opposites and yet they could sit and chat as though they were the same. Perhaps their differences were what made it possible in the first place. As Dell had mused, his own kind repelled him, so it made sense for the exact opposite of his kind to soothe him. Still, it was far too early to decide how he felt for the girl, they were still technically strangers and Dell didn't often make friends. But he was willing to spend time with her and see how things went. Besides, it was as good a way to spend the day as any.
"If you like...I'll tell you about my past, too."

She started to stare at Dell, when he spoke about him enjoying simple things. This made her blush, a sigh escaped her as she knew this man gave her the confidence of talking about her past. Maybe it was a decent exchange to show something about her. In return he would need to explain something about him. How hard could it be. Yes she had decided that in her mind she would be able to do it. But putting her mind to it, and finding a topic were to start was hard. “Are you sure “she asked as she tightened her hold on the mans fingers. The happiness essence coming through as she could feel it energize her body. This would last only but a few minutes.
Those few minutes she could not waste them. Yet the thought about them gave her courage to actually start her tale. “I fell in love, with a man who cared for me. We really loved each other so much so that we eloped . Our parents were furious but we did not care. We were both wealthy to, so we could travel a lot and not give a care in the world. After that I had a daughter. Piper. “ she started to say and bit her lip. Talking about her daughter was the hardest thing for her. Loosing her drove her mad , almost to the point of killing herself. But could she reveal the details she hoped not. She did not want to make Dell sad, or worry for her. Their moment would be ruined by that she thought.
She also knew that it would be ruined if he found out that she was still married to her ex lover. This would not make things pleasant for the two of them. Yet at the same time, she wondered if she was going to push him away or bring him closer to her. “Piper died a few months later. In my arms. I lost hope then “she started to say as she felt her tears begin to drench her face. God she always had to get messy when she talked about her personal life. Why was she even talking about it in the first place. But then again she still felt strong in these mans arms. Pressing her face to his forehead she stared at his dark eyes and sighed. “Do you still want to hear more. “she asked a little nervous as she cleaned the ruined makeup with her finger tips.
