A cherub is a type of fae folk pale in complexion, weak in appearance, and very smart. They are like angels in the respect that they have small wings on their back, not large at all they appear to be very fragile and at times even broken, being bent at odd angles. For centuries the cherubim have watched over mankind and walked beside them as tricksters and cautious spirits. They often liked to toy with humans and come to them in dreams and visions, pretending to be gods and goddesses. Like shifters they can morph into two forms, a human form and their true form, similar to a griffin (a creature based off of their design) of being half lion half eagle, or even other various combination of two animals (though this is rare.) They pride themselves in their vast knowledge and ability to see into the future and don’t take kindly to ego blows. The cherubim sometimes act as bodyguards to humans they become attached to, following them and protecting them from roaming creatures and spirits, their power hidden by a fragile frame.[/blockquote]
Cherubim are immortal, being creatures of nature born of water. The Cherubim are born only under the waterfalls of pure untouched land under the full moon, and only in the cool months of autumn when the colors of the leaves fall and touch them, invoking the spark of life that begins their journey into time. The Cherubim are characterized by their thirst for knowledge and short tempers, especially since their kind has been enslaved to serve the humans they once protected. Since not many places are left pure anymore the cherub race is a rare and dying one since no new cherubim are being born. The cherubim can have children, but only with humans and demons. Breeding with a human will create a much weaker cherub who will be weaker in appearance, but breeding with a demon will create a sub-species of cherub that have ashen gray wings and black eyes, with a fiery temperament and manipulative personality.
Cherubim have an intense ability to connect and sense other Cherubim, so when another Cherubim is killed or dies those alive will utter a horrible scream of pain for their loss. Also, when impregnated a cherubim only carries for 3 months before giving birth.
Dragon; Created by Xav
Dragons are much like the myths they are named after- large reptiles with a tendency to hoard shiny items. They have many subspecies that vary upon regions, having evolved in different ways to better suit their environment. They tend to be stubborn, hot-headed creatures that often prefer to live in seclusion in more rural areas, though as times change they have begun to settle in to more urban areas.[/blockquote]
Decimus is a European Dragon, which are known for their large size and hard scales. They had a sharp decline in numbers during the middle ages that they are just now beginning to bounce back from, and they are known as being crafty business men now that pillaging villages and ransoming princesses is no longer a steady job. They have their claws in many different pies, especially when it comes to mining operations.
Physically, European dragons vary from 20 to 40 feet, with males often being larger. They’re famous for their thick scales, and to keep their hides healthy they need to consume metals and gemstones, favoring rarer cuisine which they find more delicious. They also eat meat, and a healthy dragon who stays in their true form can put away quite a few cows in a week. They have an organ called a fire bladder in which they produce a highly combustible liquid- it ignites upon contact with the air, granting them their infamous weapon. They are a type of winged dragon, and like to have plenty of space in which to spread their wings.
European Dragons are one of the varieties of dragons that can shape-shift, though their ability is limited to humanoid forms. Most of their time is spent in these forms, where they don’t consume as much food and hoard.
Druid; Created by Joe
A druid is a species that worships the Earth and the Moon as deities and in return is given power from them. Druids look like they are humans with no real physical marking that they are different then humans however when they use their powers their eyes flash a different color. Druid’s eyes flash gold, blue or green when their powers are activated. To be a Druid one must either be born to Druid parents or must be a reincarnated Druid Soul from a previous life. When a Druid is reincarnated a Druid can be born to either Druids or humans but no other species can a Druid be born from. Once a Druid is born they are gifted with several unique abilities that all Druids are gifted with. However other then what they are given Druids can learn different magic, mostly dealing with natural, weather and elemental manipulation. The magic of the druids comes from manipulating the living energy of earth and potions using both the natural world and supernatural world for ingredients.[/blockquote]
The culture of the Druids is a peaceful one. They believe that fighting is the last thing they should do and only in defense of oneself or those in need. They have lived their life in hiding always afraid of what humans would do to them however Druids have a history of helping people who need it, be it farmers with a crop, curing an illness or really just trying to help solve any problem that they might come across. Most people know the Druids from Stonehenge but that was only one of many groups of Druids from across Earth. Now a day most Druids live in communities of Druids but for safety reasons because Druids don’t discriminate against any race, religion or gender usually. However they do discriminate against any undead as they feel that it goes against Mother Nature and is a crime against nature itself. Druids also are creatures of rituals; from these rituals they get their powers. For their inherited powers to be reenergized a Druid must not wear anything on his feet, put them in the dirt and gaze up at a full moon. In this moment a Druid is engulfed in a beam of energy that shoots from the Druid and connects to the moon and earth and in this moment where everything is connected the Druid is returned to his full power Only Druids, animals and those beings connected to nature can see these beams of energy. The older a Druid gets the more the Druid must do this ritual. However other then this basic ritual there are many more that give Druids magic powers such as weather, nature or elemental manipulation. This takes a lot of concentration and experience to actually do so most Druids don’t learn the ancient magic of the Druids.
Now all Druids are gifted with several powers that each one posses and only grows stronger with time. Their power stems from a field of living energy that surrounds them. The field fills up any small room easily but only really extends roughly ten feet away from a Druid but the more powerful the Druid the more the field grows. Just being around a Druid at that close for a little bit you will start to feel younger, happier, you will also see plants grow faster and most old wounds will start to feel better if not heal right before your eyes. This field of living energy also gives a shield to a Druid from most psychic and magic attacks. Also this field of living energy prevents Vampires or any undead from even touching a Druid as there is so much life energy that is repels any undead beings from touching them. However this field doesn’t stop any physical damage against a Druid such as bullets or melee weapons.
Elemental; Created by Ren
Elementals are able to control one of the four elements; water, fire, air (electricity is included as part of this element), or earth. The degree to which the element can be manipulated depends upon age, degree of training, and innate ability. The older the elemental is, the stronger she/he becomes.[/blockquote]
Humans and elementals are very similar with the exception of the elemental’s special ability. They age, heal and die much like a human. Elementals can even breed with a human but the offspring will not be as strong as a “pure” elemental. It is also possible for elementals to “contract” other species types (such as vampirism) and will retain the element power in this state.
Other than the typical human weaknesses (relatively low physical strength and other senses), elementals are also affected negatively by their opposite elements. Fire and air elementals are weakened by water and earth elements. Water and earth elementals are weakened by air and fire elements. The healthy and happy elemental must avoid the opposite elements to avoid injury or death. On the flip side, the elemental is also strengthened by their corresponding element.
The elemental gains her/his power from the parents. It must be inherited. The ability does not reveal itself until puberty (9-15 for girls and 12-18 for boys).
Elf; Created by Llary
Elves usually live in the woods or wooded areas of Europe. However they have travelled around the world and now can be found almost everywhere. They prefer to live in groups, as they are very social creatures. They aren’t immortal but can live for an unknown amount of time, depending on health and such. Also, they age extremely slowly, however they will always have a youthful glow about them no matter how aged they appear. They are also very beautiful, and humans are usually very attracted to them. Contrary to popular believe, elves are not tiny, like the Keebler Elves, they are normal sized.[/blockquote]
Elves can be dangerous to other species because they have the ability to entrap people using their lively music, or their food. This is often times how they get new play things; they will lure unsuspecting people in, drown them with food and wine and then play them to sleep. Then the people can never leave until the elves grow bored of them. Sometimes, individual elves can have powers over different things. Usually these things are health or disease related. For the most part, they have both the ability to heal a person, or cause the person to be afflicted depending on the relationship they have with that person. There are more than just disease however, and elves can also have power over more intangible things (i.e. they can have power over luck/ bad luck, fear/bravery, confidence/self-consciousness, ect)
For the most part, elves are mischievous folk. They like to play pranks occasionally, and enjoy making merriment. They aren’t quick to temper at all, however, they can cross the line between fun and dangerous at any moment. Sometimes their fun is also creepy, and not so fun for any of the play things that they have in their communities. As individuals, they often seek out like personalities as they are very community oriented creatures. They like to laugh and feast often. Overall, they are happy. But sometimes, can lead other to their impending doom without batting an eyelash, just for their own amusement.
Faerie; Created by Rah
The Faeries have colonies all over the world, all of which are underground and hard to find. Among these cities, they eat off roots and mutant moles deep underground. Having cavernous cities with many faeries in them, their way of life is very different from up top. Their society values reproducing children above all else. As a survival instinct, males and females are paired up from the great book to guarantee the best and healthiest faeries to be born. physical intimacy is not for pleasure and is taught to only be experienced for children. After a painful marriage ritual, women only have physical intimacy for such reasons. Faeries have the ability to choose whether or not they are fertile, like a light switch, they can turn it on and off.
Along with their fertility abilities, their wings also have advanced healing properties. Faeries will never look over 30 though they only live to be about 100. Their wings are fused with their spinal cords, which cause them to remain looking young, though their organs continue to age. This brings about their deaths. Scrapings from their wings can be crushed into powders to help heal almost anything.
Fallen Angel; Created by Samii
Angels were born as angels, messengers between the world of the living and the world of the dead, watching over earth-bound beings by helping them in their everyday life and decision making. Angels cannot be seen by anything that lives on earth, human or supernatural.[/blockquote]
An angel becomes fallen when it is kicked from the afterlife by a higher supernatural being, for becoming involved in any sinful activity, so committing any of the Seven deadly sins (wrath, pride, envy, gluttony, lust, greed, sloth.) The fallen angel's wings remain in-tact as a constant reminder of the sin which has forsaken them, they remain useful and but can be hidden.
Fallen angels are immortal, like vampires, for you cannot die twice. They have been banished to earth to repent for their mistakes until judgment day.
Genie; Created by Rah
Everyone’s heard of a genie. Though there are many varying stories about genies, there is only one truth to what they can do. There are only so many genies in the world, and not many remain. A genie resides in their lamp until they receive a new ‘master’. Who ever finds the lamp and claims it with a rub becomes their master. The person who claims the lamp can have as many wishes as long as they remain the owner of the lamp. But wishes do take up energy. Little wishes only use up a bit of her energy while larger wishes could drain her into resting for a few days. After a certain amount of energy is used, she'll resign from wishes, no matter what her master says, until she can gain enough strength back. That could be days until she is strong enough, so her master has to know how much to use and when they want to use it. Though there are a few other limits as well. You cannot wish to have someone harmed or killed. You cannot wish for eternal life or to become a genie/someone with magic to grant wishes. You cannot wish for someone to fall in love with you (as a matter of fact, you cannot wish to control someone or make someone do something that is against their will). And the last one is you cannot wish for events to change that have happened in the past. A genie travels with their lamp and the lamp contains all of their life’s possessions. Of course, only a genie can get inside their own lamp.[/blockquote]
A genie was first created when a certain race of demon cursed a human to give unwilling happiness to everyone for eternity. Of course, it happened very often a few millennia ago, but not anymore as that type of demon has not been seen ever since the last genie to be created, Ahmal, died, in 1534.
A genie never ages past a certain age and can never die. A genie cannot reproduce with any species unless they fall in love. If they want to stop living forever and have kids then they must make their only wish to become of the species they want to reproduce. A genie is only allowed one wish for themselves, and if they use it, then it’s gone. Most genies used it to become other species so that they could have families, a life and eventually die with the person they loved.
Golem; Created by Rah
A golem is an artificial being created from earthly materials or inanimate matter. Golems were made around the early 13th century til late 16th century and haven’t been created since. It is said that the secret to the art of creating golems is lost as the Jewish rabbi’s sealed away the knowledge. A golem is a being created by the word of God and would be controlled through the maker’s soul. As long as the creator was alive, then the golem could be controlled. The only way to kill a golem is to remove the paper, with the word of God, from its mouth or kill the rabbi. Golem’s do not have souls of their own and do as their creator’s wish. They were made as servants.[/blockquote]
Homunculus; Created by Blameless
Not much is known about the homunculi besides they originally live with their creators, or in nature as defined, and they have no souls. Having no souls they can not feel emotion to the extreme other creatures can, as if their emotions are muffled and dulled down. Since they are created humanoids each homunculus has one earthly possession that is the life force of their being, be it a flower or a seed, even a small trinket of the person who they once were in their life that controls them. Since homunculi do have a will of their own the majority of the time their will to live is great and they value their life and the lives of their creators above all other. Being only a humanoid, similar to an empty shell homunculi are extremely sensitive to pain, temperature, and touch, as well as their inability to produce tears instead they cry blood. Their 5 main senses are superior to a humans and is on par with most creatures in strength, and their abilities to speak and communicate with the deceased and “the gate beyond” is noted to be remarkable.[/blockquote]
Homunculi come in all shape and sizes, but are recognized by the orobourus tattoo on their bodies and strange diet, usually simply the first thing their creator feeds them be it actual food, flowers, or even metals. The only way to kill a homunculus is to destroy the object that connects them to this world, and they possess strength far greater than humans. Some, but not all, homunculi are known to have special abilities, be it shape shifting, the ability to see the future, a control of an element and so on. Though these abilities have been recorded in time they are still very rare. The one main ability shared by all homunculi is the ability to perform alchemy.
The main difference between a homunculi of nature and a homunculi created by someone is the distinct attitude and physical characteristics. Homunculi from nature have a skin hue based on where they were “born,” a light green hue for grassy areas and forest, a light blue hue for water, sandy for sandy areas and so on, while those created by a person have more blended creamy pink and red tones like a human. The homunculi have very clear glowing eyes that absorb and reflect light, much like a cat. Homunculi are able to breed with humans (as a known “for sure”) but it has never been recorded of a union between homunculi and other species. Most homunculi are also known to have "titles" such as the Brazen Man or the Leaden Man, usually based on an element that they are composed of.
Leprechaun; Created by Stac
Leprechauns are a sort of creature that have inhabited Ireland for centuries, even before the arrival of the Celts. They are always male, and tend to be very solitary creatures—they rarely associate with one another, because they will begin to desire the gold of another. And well, they are known for being a bit rowdy and obnoxious--it's best not to get a group of them together. They are known to hoard all sorts of treasures, and covet any sort of valuable object, although gold is what they desire most.[/blockquote]
Leprechauns enjoy playing tricks on humans, usually speaking in riddles and causing mischief. And everything is done in secret, because being caught risks them losing their gold. When caught, they will usually try to bribe others with a cold coin, which will usually turn to dust after the Leprechaun’s freedom, or they will offer to grant three wishes. They are very vulnerable when caught, because they are forced to stay in close radius to the captor. But, you must be careful, because once you let your guard down; the Leprechaun will disappear, which makes them very hard to catch and keep. And no, rainbows have nothing to do with it, besides the fact that they seem to have an odd fascination with them.
Contrary to popular belief, they do not all resemble old men with long beards. Nor, do they wear green. They have also resembled humans, merely as a better form of camouflage. They are also very talented in the art of music, born with the ability to play various instruments. Although this seems to be quite a feat since most of them are very fond of any sort of alcohol, and can usually be found intoxicated. They are very good natured people, although they can become livid when someone touches their treasures—they will begin to create havoc for that person, and will do everything in their power to get it back. They never forget when someone crosses them.
Lygtemand; Created by Blameless
A lygtemand (lamp man) is an elfin creature who lives in forests. They have large glowing yellow eyes, which absorb and project light around them, which is why they are called lamp men. They are very frightful creatures, all afraid of the dark, and all insomniacs. Since they fear the dark they dare not close their eyes, but they love the light too much to sleep during the day. They are typically pale creatures, but no matter what their big yellow eyes are their most distinguishing feature. Lygtemand appear to be wispy, almost unearthly at times since they often trail a slight mist behind them. They take mates for life, and always give birth in sets of twins to increase the chances of species survival.[/blockquote]
Lygtemand are quiet creatures who don’t often talk or communicate, but they do help people who get lost at night. Using their glowing eyes as a sort of lamp they lead lost people through the dark forest to safety, outside of the dangerous woods. Though they don’t expect payment they vanish right after their mission is complete out of fear, and hide out looking for more lost souls through the night. They are very brittle creatures, a lot like humans in the respect that they are susceptible to getting sick and injured like any other human, except for the fact that they heal faster and can vanish into thin air, well appear to vanish anyway. They have the ability to morph into a spirit like state, where they are invisible to the naked eye but can still travel, this was used as a defensive mechanism until they moved into the forests, and now the ability is rarely used. Also, their blood is scorching hot to the tongue (especially to vampires!)
Mermaid/Merman/Nixie/Nix; Created by Rah
A nixie/nix is a water spirit or a freshwater mermaid/merman. They live in societies that parallel that of humans (with cities and communities, but under water). Unlike common mermaid myth, Nixies/Nix are able to go from human to mermaid/merman form when desired. When in human form on land, there is no real way to distinguish them from other humans except for the fact that they constantly drip water. Nixies/Nix can never be completely dry and have some item of clothing that will remain wet. Nixies/Nix can also move the water about their body as well as how much water flows to remain consistent. Even though they can choose when they want to go from human to mermaid/merman form, if they come into contact with a large amount of water (eg. Walking in the rain/a bath), their tails will show until they leave the water. Nixies/Nix have a life span of around 300 years, though, the longer they remain on land causes their life span to shorten. Lucky for them though, they never look a day older than 30[/blockquote]
Siren; Created by Siren
Siren’s are a closer relation of mer folk and are known for seducing sailors into dangerous waters and ultimatly to their deaths. They live in waters near islands surrounded by sharp rocks and rapid tides. They are often beautiful curvy women, who were reffured to as the daughters of the River god, Achelous. Though in the past they would stand among boat wreckage in nothing but their natural glory to lure men, In the modern day most Siren’s are now cherished celebrities and famous singers around the world.[/blockquote]
Though the Siren shed there scaled tails they still keep a few of the mer folk traits when they evolved from them. They are talented swimmers and a pure Siren can hold there breath for 5 hours under water. Though many Sirens are half bred, as of yet no male Siren’s have been found in the world. Either they hide out, only coming out to mate, or they do not resemble their female counterparts at all.
Valravn; Created by Xav
A Valravn is an ordinary raven that has fed on a lycan leader and gained human intelligence. They are tricksters with some powers, but use their cunning to try and find a human child. By eating the heart of a child they gain the power to change their form, gaining two new ones- a humanoid form and a form of a raven-wolf hybrid.[/blockquote]
Valravn are able to blend their three forms together, and are often taken for lycanthropes at first. They do not age but they can be killed, typically by major trauma.
Zavyl; Created by Xav
Zavyls are a rather endangered species- and many other species consider it a good thing. Though they aren’t well-known any longer, in the past Zavyls have been known to be quite a thorn in the side of various species; including vampires, demons, and lycanthropes. They have evolved in to efficient hunters of these creatures, and all Zavyls are mentally inclined to dislike these other species. They don’t hunt others for food, but simply to kill them, being one of the few species who support humans as more than sport or a meal. Before the upheaval of the world, Zavyls often slayed many of the creatures who terrorized humans, and their favored enemy are vampires.[/blockquote]
Zavyls are naturally fast, but their strength is less than that of an older vampire. Their main weapons are silver canines and silver claws- they grow that way naturally provided the Zavyl keeps a healthy diet. Their claws and nails are completely free of impurities unlike naturally occurring silver, and can fetch a good price on the market. Their blood also has an odd quality to it to discourage vampires from biting them during a battle- it acts like a drug, causing a state similar to being drunk and sometimes causing hallucinations. Some vampires actually favor Zavyl blood as a way to reduce their stress, but it’s not that easy to find these days.
Zavyl do not age, but they are not immortal. Blood loss, decapitation, poisoning, there are plenty of ways to kill them. As they age they tend to get more skilled, and begin to develop a slight immunity to the abilities of vampires- the immunity is handy against younger vampires, but older ones find this more of an annoyance than anything. World-wide estimates of the Zavyl population is somewhere in the lower hundreds, and there are those who are working to make that number zero. For their part, Zavyls don’t often stop hunting- it’s not something they can easily stop. The less-aggressive females are usually the only ones who avoid others, often hidden away by the males. The population is only about 33 percent females, and females are considered as higher-ranking in their culture because of it.
