Species Description:
A nixie is a female water spirit or a freshwater mermaid. They live in societies that parallel that of humans (with cities and communities, but under water) with mermen (Nix). Unlike common mermaid myth, Nixies are able to go from human to mermaid form when desired. When in human form on land, there is no real way to distinguish them from other humans except for the fact that they constantly drip water. Nixies can never be completely dry and have some item of clothing that will remain wet. Nixies can also move the water about their body as well as how much water flows to remain consistent. Even though they can choose when they want to go from human to mermaid form, if they come into contact with a large amount of water (eg. Walking in the rain/a bath), their tails will show until they leave the water. Nixies have a life span of around 300 years, though, the longer they remain on land causes their life span to shorten. Lucky for them though, they never look a day older than 30.

Overall Appearance:
Lora has the natural beauty that most nixies possess. She had long brown hair which either dried straight or curly, depending on what kind of water she comes in contact with. Her eyes are a faded green and show all of her emotions. She is easy to read as she doesn’t know how to hide her feelings. She is fairly tall for a female human but would stand at about 6’5” if you were to measure from the bottom of her tail to the top of her head. She has a slender body with curves in the right places that are made to catch a man’s attention easily; though many human men wonder and question as to why she is always wet

Lor is usually found in a pair of jean shorts and a t-shirt or tank top when on land. She wears ankle socks and runners. Most of the time, her socks are wet, as she can never be completely dry; though sometimes it will be her hair or her earrings that are wet.

Her tail is an ocean blue shade that shimmers an aqua colour when in the light and at certain angles in the water. She has iridescent fins on the side of her tail, near her waist that better allow her to swim fluidly and straight as well as iridescent flippers at the end of her tail. She also has a pair of smaller blue flippers at the bottom of her tail that allow her to swim faster. It’s said that they scales of a mermaid’s tail can grant wishes, and that is true, though, if a mermaid were to lose too many scales, she would become very ill.

Overall Personality:
Lora is a very cheerful person. She is able to make people smile and likes to enjoy herself. She has a very open heart and is compassionate. Unlike most mermaids, Lora does not have a short temper and can be very patient; depending on the matter at hand. She likes to smile as much as she can and will try to brighten someone’s mood if she feels like it.

She can speak out of turn at times, not yet realising her place as a slave. Lora has a strong will and believes in what she thinks is right. If she had the choice of dying or going against what she believed, she would rather die. And if she was challenged about one of her beliefs, she would defy and talk back to whomever had challenged her. Though that isn’t a good thing as she has a master that will tell her what she believes and doesn’t believe in.

Lora enjoys being praised, as it makes her feel like she is needed. She is a very good worker and takes pride in what she does, though she would like to be able to have more time to lounge around for a break in the sun from time to time. Lora is afraid of drying up on land, and by that she means that if she were to become completely dry, she would dry up and die. She likes to lay in the sun as it is very warm compared to under the water, but doesn’t like to stay out long because of her fear. Lora is a firm believer in fate and true love, though she doubts that she will ever find something like that.

Detailed History:
Lora was born to a simple mother whose name she cannot remember. Her mother had been living on and off of the land when she had her and had to return to the sea when she was pregnant with Lora as a mermaid needs to be in water when giving birth. Lora travelled with her mother for the first 4 years of her life until they had to go through a storm. The current had pulled Lora and her mother apart and she hasn’t seen her since. Lora travelled by herself and tried to see the better side of things in her life. She grew up to love the sea creatures and made many friends in cities that she passed through.

Lora first ventured onto land when she noticed something sparkly and colourful above the water. She swam up top to see what human called fireworks. She stayed on the land until the show was over but got lost in the crowd. When she was in the water, there wasn’t as much of a challenge of seeing at night, but since there was no water to surround herself with, she had difficulties finding her way back to the water. She ran into a few problems before she reached the water again, where she quickly ventured back to one of the cities that she was familiar with.

A couple years later, Lora had come across some information about a nixie living on land looking for her lost daughter. She couldn’t be sure that it was her mother or not, but she decided that she would check it out. Soon after she came onto land she came into a mishap. It was night time when she was trying to find a place to stay (as she had no human money) and ran into some bad people. Currently, she is being held in a cage in a warehouse, with her hair damp, waiting to be sold.
