Overall Appearance:
Nathan is a very lanky, spindely man. He's tall and incredibly thin, seeming unhealthily underweight until you realise that he eats like a pig and still doesn't put weight on; it's just the way his metabolism works. He has long limbs, his legs are what give him most of his height, but he also has long, thin fingers that make his work easier. They make light of delicate work and enable him to play the piano rather effectively. These traits come from his animal form which he commemorates by having a spider tattoo on his right forearm, a tattoo that occassionally can be seen peeking out when his shirt sleeves are rolled too high during work.
His facial structure is also fairly pointed: high cheek bones, a chiseled jaw and slightly pointed nose all giving him a cold look of analytical stoicism. His green/grey eyes seen cold and sharp, often widened with curiosity or focused intently on his work. His short black hair is thick and often left to curl wildly atop his head. Under bright lights, streaks of copper and caramel brown can be seen laced in amongst the black, giving him a slightly warmer appearance. Often seen in work clothes do to long shifts, Nathan is usually in black trousers, a light shirt and his white lab coat. However, he does wear red converse to break up the monochrome nightmare. In casual clothing, he tends to wear skinny jeans, shirts and jumpers.
As a spider, Nathan has a hard time settling into a corner without being spotted. He's approximately the size of a dinner plate with his legs extended and although he has a dark brown and black camoflage, that doesn't help him in the bleached white world of the hospital. He only tends to shift form while at home, in his office, or when he can safetly assure he won't be squished, trapped in a glass, screamed at or swatted with a newspaper.

Habits/Quirks:
- Dogs, absolutely terrified of the things
- That he'll be kept as a pet by an unsuspecting hobbyist
- That someone will find him and milk him for venom, effectively neutralising his main form of attack AND defense
Overall Personality:
- When startled, Nate will raise his hands in a gesture something like a surrender, the reason being that in spider form the same movement makes the scary rawr gesture that people take as a warning. In human form it just looks a little silly.
- Stares intently, which can bug people out a little
- tends to occupy darkened corners.
- will use both hands to eat, no matter what it is
- occasionally walks on tiptoes when focusing
At a glance, Nathan is the perfect working professional. He's punctual, precise with his work and never stalls if action can be taken. Nate likes things to be done properly, he's a bit of a perfectionist and won't leave a patient until the injury is fully dealt with. He'll stick with a patient for the length of their recovery, a habit that originally spawned from the action of waiting until prey succumb to venom, only in human form this habit is flipped and becomes nurturing. He focuses flawlessly on most tasks and acts like a pure professional.
However, due to this stoic professionalism, Nathan can often foget about social skills and alienate people. He seems too efficient at times and finds it hard to relax. However, if given the time to adjust to a person, he will happy sit and chat but doesn't always know how to express himself. People tend to find him cold or detatched. Very few see through to find that he's genuinely trying to get closer to them and help him along. If they do, they find that Nathan can be a little insecure. Not to a crippling extent but he is shy and doesn't like people to know how he feels, in case they take advantage. It's this natural suspicion that acts as the main deterent in his social life.
Due to Tibalt's anti-social habits, he took a keen interest in research. There is nothing he enjoys more than receiving a new, donated spider anatomy to dissect and research. It started when he was in his early years of shifting and was curious about his new form, he started researching his species of spider as a hobby, analysing the poison and anti-venoms available. When he was finished with this, he moved on to other species. This fascination has made him the hospital's expert on the matter but the title has a way of making people give him a wide berth.

Detailed History: (Quality rather than Quantity)
Nathan was raised by his mother and father in New Orleans, his father was australian and had emigrated to america to find world and further his little, country life. He met Cecile Reynolds while on a business trip and the two started to date. The reason I tell you this is because Andrew was a Goliath Bird-Eating Spider shapeshifter. Cecile took this rather well despite her natural dislike of spiders in general and this gene carried on through both Carl and Jane. When Nathan was born, they didn't have a clue whether he would have inherited the ability to shift forms or not but raised him with the warning that one day he /might/ be able to. Other than this weird piece of advise, Nathan grew up fairly regularly. He went to school, made friends, played the donkey in the school nativity play and eventually went on to do his exams.
With all the bad timing of an expert, Nathan's first shapeshift occured during his history exam. Three pages into an essay on the Soviet Rebellions of Russia and his hand cramped up badly; he thought nothing of it and wrote a little more slowly, figuring it was doing to the mass amount he was writing. It wasn't until his stomach and limbs started cramping up that he figured something was wrong. He asked to be excused and was escorted to the bathroom to assure this wasn't a con for him to sneak an answer sheet from somewhere, then his escort waited outside the bathroom door. Nathan was terrified but he soon realised what must be happening and tried to imitate what he'd seen his brother and sister do; he crouched onto all fours and spread his fingers wide, letting the weird cramps and stretches take over. The world grew a few sizes bigger and eventually the pain subsided. He collapsed on the floor for a moment then tried to look around...with eight eyes. Well that was new. He took a while to explore this new form, learning how to move, except the exam supervisor came back and found a ginormous spider sat in the middle of the bathroom. He had to learn to run rather quickly to escape the boot being brandished at him and escaped out of the window, finding a safe place to change forms and going home.
Nathan's dad found him in a state of anxiety and pulled him into the house, he comforted his son and found out what happened. Needless to say he was thrilled that his son had inherited his genetic ability and coached him in how to handle the change less painfully. Nathan failed that history exams, as you can imagine, but resat it and went on to medical school with an A in History, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology and Music (he had been playing piano from a young age). During Medical School, he found himself developing and learning to deal with people a little better. He had one or two girlfriends before finding someone he really fell for. Paul Ryder had been an amazing boyfriend, and while Nate was a little shocked to find that he liked guys too, he felt safe with Paul and trusted him. He eventually confessed to being able to shift form and Paul took it incredibly well. However, he neglected to tell Nate that he was in fact a werewolf. It wasn't until one full moon when Nathan visited him, that he realised. This would have been fine, if it wasn't for Nate's already fully formed phobia of canines. He'd been petrified of dogs from a young age so to find that your boyfriend is a wolf once a month was a little too much. He tried to live with it for a while but found that he became too anxious around Paul and eventually called it off.
Focusing on his degree, Nate was able to graduate with a first in Medicinal Science and went on to find work at a local hospital. He'd work shifts and took a part time course in biology, a course that focused on his main hobby. Poisons. After completing this course, he began to do his own research and ended up publishing a book on the effects of spider venom on the human anatomy and information on anti-venoms. He eventually moved to take work in a large hospital in Corpus Christi were he is currently working as a poisons expert and practicing doctor.
RP Example:
Nate watched the small spider scuttle across his wall then ceiling, he smiled and wished he had the time to join the frivolous little creature. This shift had been far too long and he was ready to go home, it was just a shame that he had to stay in to keep an eye on a patient in his ward who had come in earlier that night with internal bleeding. The spider spun a thread from the ceiling and dnagled lower, almost teasing him before plopping it's fat little bottom onto the desk and resting by his office toy. Little spiders such as this could get away with hiding in an office, invisibly wandering from one side of the hospital to the other. He envied them a little for that. If he wanted to scuttle anywhere without being seen it had better be a large, dark. cluttered area with no-one around. Still, he could eat a bird one day and not have to eat for a few days after, that little guy had to constantly feed on whatever drifted into his web. So Nate supposed he had the better survival deal there.
The head nurse knocked and poked her head around the door, breaking his train of thought and bringing him back to reality. It seemed that his patient had started bleeding again and would have to be seen to. He had seen this coming. A rookie doctor had taken on the operation and Nate could see from the way his hands shook that it wasn't going to be any good. He may even have to redo the entire procedure; that thought annoyed him. It was far too much stress for the patient and it would abuse the already bruised and sore tissue of the affected site. Still, it would have to be done. He administered an anasthetic and took the patient through to the operating theatre. He called for scrubs and other doctors to assist then started the procedure. He could see from the stitching that the rookie had screwed this up good and proper. He'd have to be corrected when he came in tomorrow morning, this was appalling. Nate worked fast to undo the stitching and to then sew him up more securely. That should do the trick. Once sorted, the patient was send back to the ward and kept on a drip of mild pain killers.
