[Species]
Species Description:
Elementals are able to control one of the four elements; water, fire, air (electricity is included as part of this element), or earth. The degree to which the element can be manipulated depends upon age, degree of training, and innate ability. The older the elemental is, the stronger she/he becomes.
Humans and elementals are very similar with the exception of the elemental’s special ability. They age, heal and die much like a human. Elementals can even breed with a human but the offspring will not be as strong as a “pure” elemental. It is also possible for elementals to “contract” other species types (such as vampirism) and will retain the element power in this state.
Other than the typical human weaknesses (relatively low physical strength and other senses), elementals are also affected negatively by their opposite elements. Fire and air elementals are weakened by water and earth elements. Water and earth elementals are weakened by air and fire elements. The healthy and happy elemental must avoid the opposite elements to avoid injury or death. On the flip side, the elemental is also strengthened by their corresponding element.
The elemental gains her/his power from the parents. It must be inherited. The ability does not reveal itself until puberty (9-15 for girls and 12-18 for boys).

Diana’s beauty rivals that of a china doll. Her skin is pale, almost chalk-white and she has light green eyes which could be mistaken for grey in the right light. Long, black hair falls over her back and is kept out of her face by a silver hairpin. Her hands are delicate and skin soft.
Her figure is petite but has curves particularly in the hip and bosom regions. She doesn’t intentionally workout but she spends much of her time outdoors hiking or rock-climbing so she is physically active.
Typically Diana wears semi-formal attire all the time, even when exploring the woods or gardening. Her only atypical articles of clothing (or lack thereof) are her bare feet. She despises wearing shoes even outdoors. The dirt under her nails doesn’t bother her either.

Diana is very self-sufficient and has trouble trusting others. She is withdrawn from those around her and doesn’t express her thoughts or feelings except with close friends. Because of this, she can seem very cold to those who do not know her. It is difficult to get close to her emotionally because of her insecurities and fear of vulnerability. But once one is able to get past her shell she is an unfailingly loyal, sympathetic and caring friend and partner.
Though she is kind and supportive of her friends, she doesn’t hold much patience for anyone else. She is quiet but extremely stubborn and headstrong. Diana thinks deeply and logically which causes her to overanalyze situations and people. It also causes her to be organized and systematic, especially when it comes to work.
As an earth elemental, she enjoys working with plants and spending time outdoors. This is when she is happiest and the most comfortable with herself. The flowers she grows typically reflect her mood as this is one of the only ways she has to express herself. When kept indoors too long, Diana suffers from a silent but severe depression. Her elemental abilities are also weakened.
Diana might seem like she is over-flowing with confidence (and possibly conceit) but in reality most of this is a façade. She is very critical of her personality traits and appearance.
For the most part, Diana's identity is a mystery to her. She spent so much of her life hiding parts of her from her father that she started to lose touch of who she was. His betrayal and her recent expulsion into slavery only deepened her self-doubt and mistrust of others.

Detailed History:
As the only legitimate daughter of a wealthy family, Diana grew up under a lot of pressure particularly from her verbally abusive father. Viktor was a cruel, sadistic man whose immoral behavior was known throughout the community. He fathered numerous illegitimate children and spent his nights drinking and gambling away his fortune. His behavior drove his wife to opium use and a life of drugged stupor. Though Viktor rarely used physical punishment on his daughter, his verbal criticisms and debasements influenced her reserved personality and insecurities.
Diana lived most of her life isolated inside the gates of the family's enormous estate, Antridge. As a child, she was educated at home by tutors and amused herself by playing in the gardens or the wooded lawn. The only beneficial thing her father ever did was teach her how to control and strengthen her powers. By the time she reached adolescence she had enough control over her abilities to attend a private boarding school. Compared to Antridge, the school was heaven. She mostly kept to herself but made a few close friends.
One cataclysmic event changed her life forever. Viktor had accumulated massive gambling debt and a subsequent price on his head. He needed to raise money and fast. In the end he sold his own daughter into slavery to get the cash to pay back his debt. Diana was shipped across the country in chains.
