It is a well-known fact that a certain irate sparrow has built a nest beneath the boardwalk on Corpus Christi beach. It is also a well-known fact that this sparrow seems to have a personal vendetta against the many seagulls that take residence there year round. These facts are supported by the evidence that this daring little sparrow is unafraid of rather viciously fighting with the seagulls for control of whatever food sources are available.
These are not the only facts certain about this sparrow. While vicious to seagulls in the area and loud as all hell around them, this sparrow is known for a fact to be very, very sweet to beach goers who have food, and unlike seagulls, will not harass those who offer it to her, but rather will accept tossed french fries and other bits of yum gratefully and with thankful dignity. This sparrow is not around all the time, but when it is, it tends to become a small spectacle, as it single-handedly keeps seagulls at bay and entertains tourists who feed it gladly.
A not-very-well-known-but-speculated-about fact about this sparrow was that she was in fact a shifter. Small songbird shifters were rare in general since many families with this gene died or were lumped in with humanity for their general uselessness when it came to combat during the wars, so few actually considered this option, but regardless of speculation, the sparrow remained one of the more low-key attractions of the beaches of Corpus Christi.
hopping around adorably on the sand and tilting her head here and there as she regarded the crowd around her, the little sparrow chirped and twittered happily and with amazing volume for such a tiny animal as overhead the seagulls bayed in dismay. They were beginning to learn of this tiny but sharp-clawed little beastie's dominance over them, and more than one of them bore scars from her talons and pointed beak.
Someone threw her another fry, and she hopped over to it and chirruped, tilting her head toward it before pecking curiously at it. She delved into and completely decimated the fry in perhaps a minute as onlookers talked and giggled and took pictures.
